"Police tortured me by pouring acid in my private parts", accused to petition Human Rights Commission

The Nilgiris: An accused who is out on bail has decided to file a complaint with the West Zone Police Chief and the Human Rights Commission over the alleged torture by the Police after being arrested in a ganja case in the Nilgiris district.

Sivaraj (28) hails from Pandalur in the Nilgiris district and had been working in a Power Loom Company in Tirupur. On October 27, he was arrested by the Devala Police in Gudalur for selling ganja.

Sivaraj, who came out on bail today has accused the Devala police of torturing him by pouring acid in several parts of his body and inflicted pain on him.

While addressing the Press, he said, "The police arrested me in a ganja case and locked me up. During my imprisonment, they tied me upside down in the police station and subjected me to several tortures."

He also alleged that Sub-Inspector Jayaprakash of Devala Police Station had stripped him and poured acid in his abdomen, thighs and in his private parts. 

Sivaraj further accused that they threatened him of dire consequences, if he would expose their torture. "I have decided to lodge a complaint on the erring police officers with Human Rights Commission and the Chief of the Western Zone Police", he informed.
